PKS prepares to fill deputy speaker's seat

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Faction at the House of Representatives, named some candidates to sit as deputy speaker after of the parliament after Anis Matta left the seat and become the party's chairman.  

According head of PKS faction, Hidayat Nur Wahid, the candidates are Zulkifliemansyah from Commission XI, Fachri Hamzah and Sohibul Iman from Commission VI and Andi Rahmat from Commission VII. "But the final decision is at the hand of PKS Central Board," he said.

Anis Matta resigned from parliament as he planned to focus on his new position as the Chairman of PKS, replacing Luthfi Hasan Ishaaq who was named as a suspect of graft case involving imported meat.

 

Resign as an MP

The House officially announced on Tuesday that Ishaaq resigned from his position as a member of parliament he wanted to focus on graft case accused by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). "It will be hard for PKS if he stay in parliament. PKS is known as a party that brings forward anti-corruption stance," Wahid said.

If a member of parliament suspected in a crime case, he will keep receiving his regular salary. But such status that Ishaaq disapproved of, Wahid said.  

"He (Ishaaq) wants to build a culture that it's better to step down, if we were in his position," he said.
