REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday officially issued Presidential Decree No. 02/2013 on Public Security and Order, following the discouraging conditions of politics, laws and security in 2012.

"In the last two year, maintaining and safeguarding public security and order are our priority," SBY said in the opening speech of Government Work Meeting on Monday.

In 2012, Indonesia faced security problems such as violence, social disorder, communal conflict and terrorism act. The presidential decree will encourage every stake holder to immediately contain the conflicts. Law enforcement and Local Government must also detect any spot prone to riot.

Minister of Home Affairs, Gamawan Fauzi, said the outline of the Presidential Instruction was to order regional head to become the commander of coordination to handle security in the region.

Governor of West Java, Ahmad Heryawan, said every regional head did not get additional duty in relation to the Presidential Instruction as they only acted as coordinator at provincial level. "Police, Armed Forces and other instances will be under coordination of governor," he said.
