Surabaya to offer monorail project in July

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA - The capital city of East Java, Surabaya plans to build monorail and train system and the local government will offer the project to international investors in July.

Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, asked Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya to monitor the project until 2014.

Rector of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Surabaya, Tri Yogi Yuwono said ITS would not involve technically, but ITS would monitor the tender to operational process to ensure the procedure meet the  standard. "ITS will call out several experts, such as transport engineering, construction engineering, architect, urban and regional planning, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and environmental engineering for this project," Yuwono said on Monday.

The Head of Study Center of Transportation and Logistics in ITS, Hera Widyastuti, said ITS would support monorail program running from west side to east side of Surabaya and train from north side to south side. "We form a special technical team for these projects," she said.
