Main points of Japan-Indonesia joint press conference

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The following are the main points of a joint press conference by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono following their talks Friday in Jakarta, as cited on Kyodo News.

Abe and Yudhoyono agreed to:

- fight against acts of terrorism following the Algerian hostage crisis.

- strengthen ties in political, economic, security areas.

- bolster strategic partnership.

 

Abe said:

- strengthening ties with Association of Southeast Asian countries will lead to peace and stability in the region.

- Japan commits to help Indonesia develop infrastructure.

- China's growth is undoubtedly a plus for Japan's economy.

- it is important that China act responsibly in the international community.

 

Yudhoyono said:

- if there is a problem in the South China Sea or the East China Sea or in any area, the solution must be peaceful in line with international laws.
