Indonesia more prone to corruption in 2013

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) predicts the number of corruption cases will surge in 2013 as political parties seek financial sources for 2014 presidential election. 

Law observer from Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Muzakir, admitted that 2013 was a period for political parties to look for as much as fund for presidential election 2014. He urged Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to inquire projects at ministry level.

"Early detection is the best measure for KPK," Muzakir said on Tuesday.

KPK must also investigate the process of bidding of goods and service. He analyzed that the method of operation had been changed lately. Corruption, he said, started after the budget of projects have been released.
