REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PASADENA - The number of American tourists visiting Indonesia is expected to increase by 10-15 percent in 2013. The report says the number of tourists is surging in the last two years.
"Amid economic slowdown in 2012, the number of American tourists coming to Indonesia is grow by 10 percent," Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Marie Elka Pangestu, said on Monday.
According to the data in the ministry, the amount of American tourists visiting Indonesia until October 2012 is 173,798. It increases on 9.95 percent compared to similar period in 2011.
"American market is potential for Indonesian tourism," she said. She hopes American tourists contribute to six percent of the total of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia.
Chairman of Bandung Institute of Tourism (STP), Noviendi Makalam, said most of American tourists spent more days and more money in Indonesia. Based on Passenger Exit Survey (PES) 2015, American tourists spend the average of 10.55 days and 1,389.47 USD per visit in Indonesia. "Most tourists are from the upper class. They spend much money in Indonesia," he said.
