REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia celebrates International Anti-Corruption Day 2012 in State Palace on Monday. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) urged government and law enforcement to pay attention to four sectors in the efforts to tackle corruption.
"We will never let corruption occur and the eradication process will never target to selective persons only," he said.
First attention, SBY said, must be paid towards the procurement of goods and service to prevent mark up. Secondly, government will monitor issuance process of permission to avoid any practice of bribery.
Thirdly, law enforcement apparatus are urged to observe the spending of local and state budgets. "The fourth is to monitor taxes to prevent collusion between tax payers and tax officers," he said.
The event was attended by ministers and some governors.
Minister of Laws and Human Rights, Amir Syamsuddin, said firmly that Indonesia must fight in corruption eradication. Corruption is considered as violation towards human rights. While Chairman of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Abraham Samad echoed the similar message on his speech.
