REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA - Government will build museum of noken in Papua in 2013. Noken is a woven bag indigenous to Papua. Recently, UNESCO awarded noken as intangible world heritage on Tuesday in Paris, France.

"Central government will build museum of noken in Jayapura next year," the Head of Cultural COnservation of Papua and West Papua, Apolos Marisan, said on Thursday.

Marisan said that Ministry of Education and Culture had discussed the plan since November. However, the exact location is still under consideration.

The ministry held discussion forum yesterday in Jayapura to see the involvement of people and local government on maintaining noken. They also verified the latest data of noken.

"We record that there are 257 tribes and languages in Papua as well as the existence of noken," he said.
