REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono sits on number nine in the list of 500 most influential Muslims in the world made by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (RISSC). Other Indonesian names such as the Chairman of Nahdatul Ulama (NU) Said Agil Siradj and Chairman of Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin also enter the top 50.
SBY has been on the list since it was first launched in 2009. In 2010, he climbed up to number ten. He fell to eleven in 2011.
RISSC sees that democracy develops in Indonesia during the SBY leadership while at the same time SBY also settled the conflict in Aceh and Papua.
