Indonesian young designer, Priyo Oktaviano, interprets the biggest influence in life on his designs. As a Chinese descent man who grows up in Java, he acculturates China and Java in 35 couture united in his collections named 'Palais Royal'.

Oktaviano adapts the cultural treasures of China by taking the scenes from Shanghai Tan series. For Javanese influences, he is inspired by the attire of Yogyakarta and Solo princess. Beskap, formal men's shirts in Javanese tradition, also inspires him for men wears. Balinese weaving bridges the two cultures.

Priyo's artworks are made from linen, chiffon, and cotton, with most of them is in the form of Balinese Songket. On the first sequence in his fashion show, he presents a man wearing long coat topped with fedora hat as the opening.

He also designs an ancient white shirt and black trousers for man. While for the girls, he features classic and modern Cheongsam in bright red. A model walks the runway wearing layered top Cheongsam and knee-length skirt, while another wearing maroon Cheongsam combined with bronze and silver colors.

On the second sequence, Javanese nuance feels more viscous. A man model adorns black yet modern beskap. Black seems dominating this second sequence, as seen from black velvet blouse with contrasting golden belt and Javanese style necklace.

Most of his couture for women is in kebaya (traditional Javanese blouse –Ed) silhouette, while for men is in ranging variations of beskap with harem pants. For the closing show, Shanghai and Javanese styles collide. Cheongsam long gown with kebaya style sleeve become the form of cultural fusion.
