Fish catching competition in Bogor’s anniversary

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Several entertainment events would enliven the 530th anniversary celebration of Bogor city in West Java on June 3, and one of them was colossal show. The colossal show would be conducted on Saturday (June 2), said the Bogor Cultural Festival organizing committee chairman, Bagus Karya Negara, said recently.

About 5,000 people would participate in the festival, Bagus said, adding that a total of 100,000 guests were expected to attend the festival and attract the attention of some 30 million audiences through mass media across the country. "Actually UNESCO is an initiator of the event (the cultural festival) after we handed our proposal," Bagus said.

The cultural festival was also aimed to let the public know about harmonious relations in ethnic and tribal diversity in Bogor, he stated. In addition, a cavalry supported by 15 horses would also include in a parade during the city`s anniversary celebration, he added.

According to him, fish catching competition in a lake that was locally called "Ubek Setu" would also be held to celebrate the city anniversary celebration. The fish catching competition will take place on June 24 in a five-hectare lake of Setu Gede village, where the West Java governor has promised to supply two tons of fish for the "Ubek Setu" competition.
