Trisakti University commemorates its 50th anniversary

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Trisakti University commemorated its 50th anniversary by holding an open session with the title of 'National Energy Security.' It was attended by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Resources, Rizal Ramli, to present public lecture.

Trisakti University performed a variety of research conducted by students and lecturers on new and renewable energy. Dean of Faculty of Earth Technology and Energy (FTKE) Trisakti University, Sugiatmo Kasmungin, said to face national energy security, Indonesia needs to build new and renewable energy, whether it is from fossil and non-fossil.

"Lots of new and renewable energy unused, such as wind, solar, geothermal, hydro, and biomass," he said, in a press release received by Republika.co.id, Sunday (29/11).

Currently, Sugiatmo and some professors and students were developing surfactants energy from bagasse and biomass, generated from cows' dung. Trisakti University have a community service program (PKM) to be applied in several villages by giving two cows and making cows' dung processing, so that it can become energy.

Head of Petroleum Engineering Program of Trisakti University, Trijana Kontoatmodjo, said in facing national energy security, Indonesia should pay attention on infrastructure of the energy. It was because the infrastructure of energy could strongly support the transmission of energy.

"Good energy resources should be supported with good human resources. Then the national energy security can be realized," he added.
