REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The France’s newly-elected President Francois Hollande would not affect the relationship between Indonesia and France, the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marty Natalegawa, said on Monday. Both countries have maintained good relationships despite the changing of government in France.

“The changing of government in France will not cause big impact to the relationship of both countries,” Marty said.

He added, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) followed intensively the process of general elections in France. He also welcomed the result positively. “SBY will congratulate the newly-elected president,” he said.

Francois Hollande defeated incumbent Nicholas Sarkozy to become France’s next president. The result showed Hollande won with 51 percent of the vote compared with Sarkozy’s 48.1 percent.
