REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Minister of Health, Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih, officially resigned from his office, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyo (SBY), said on Thursday after visiting her in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.

“Endang has officially asked to resign and I has approved it. Then the duty of Ministry of Health will be temporary managed by the Vice Minister and related officials,” SBY said.

The reason behind her resignation is to concentrate on the treatment of her lung cancer. SBY said that he was engraved with her intention since she worked hard to devote herself to the country. Accompanied by the First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, SBY visited Endang in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital at 14.00 in Indonesian Western Time. He said that he was able to communicate with her and also prayed for her health.
