Ministry of Justice Sleman Prioritizes Elderly Hajj Worshippers

There are hundreds of elderly who go on Hajj to the Holy Land.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SLEMAN -- Ministry of Religious Affairs (Ministry of Religious Affairs) Sleman will prioritize elderly Hajj worshippers. It is remembered that there were hundreds of elderly (elderly) who left for the holy land.

The head of the Sleman Local Government Office, Sidik Pramono, revealed that 1,251 pilgrims were sent from Sleman district this year. Of these, 327 of them were worshippers belonging to the category (elderly).

“For elderly worshippers we pay special attention, there is an elderly friendly Hajj service,” Sidik said on Tuesday (14/5/2024).

During the Hajj this year, the oldest worshipper from Sleman district was about 95 years old, named Umirah Sutorejo, a resident of kapanewon Ngemplak. While the youngest worshipper was named Aleewa Raja Taqiiy a resident of kapanewon Ngemplak who was 18 years old.

Sidik added that it has been educating worshippers about temperatures in Saudi Arabia that can reach 45 to 50 degrees Celsius. Worshippers are also given debriefing prior to departure. In addition, the pilgrims from Sleman district have also been equipped with PPE to avoid dehydration, ranging from carrying umbrellas, sunglasses, masks, drinking water, and water spray devices.

Then it was also taught that worshippers who leave for Saudi Arabia often spray water on the body, regularly drinking three sips every 10 minutes. It is also mandatory to wear shoes or slippers when outdoors.

“Each health worker from each kloter has also accompanied for socialization/education about it,” he said.
