Tourists flock to Palabuhan Ratu during the long weekend

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI - Long weekend makes thousand of tourists flocked to Palabuhan Ratu Beach, Sukabumi, West Java. From the data in Sukabumi Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports Department, the number of tourists reaches 150.000 people on Friday and Saturday.

Most of the tourists came from Jakarta, Bogor, and Bandung, the spokesman of Sukabumi Water Tourism Savior Agency (Balawista), Erik, said. The tourists used four-wheel transportation, either private car or pick-up car.

Dozens officers were deployed in certain places to protect the visitors. The beach was also protected by SAR and Water Police (Polair) of Palabuhan Ratu.

The Head of Indonesia Restaurant and Hotel Association (PHRI) in Sukabumi, Dadang Hendar, agreed. The tourists mostly flocked to the south beach of Sukabumi. "The rate of hotel visitors is 20 percent higher," he said.
