The Swedish King admires Candi Borobudur

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAGELANG – The Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf visited Candi Borobudur or Borobudur Temple in Magelang Central Java on Wednesday. Accompanied by the Governor of Central Java, Bibit Waluyo, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Andi Mallarangeng, he arrived at the yard of Candi Borobudur at noon.

As any other visitors, the Swedish King changed his cloth to batik before entering the temple. In his capacity as World Scout Foundation chairman, he was hailed by scouts. Gustav then encircled the temple and entered the east gate of Candi Borobudur.

The King also asked about the effect of Mount Merapi volcano in 2010, including the 1006 volcano in which Java covered entirely by ashes. Enjoying the beautiful Candi Borobudur, he read the relief. The King then ascended to Arupadatu. He also asked about the function of stupa. He respects Candi Borobudur as a world heritage.
