REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG – As a nation, Indonesia consistently supports the Palestine’s struggle to reach the independence. Indonesia urges others Muslim countries to carefully watch Palestine steps in their ambition to become a member of the United Nation.
“We cannot close our eyes to Palestine petition to become a member of the UN. Let’s give our support for Palestine through capacity bulding.” Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said in his opening speech of the 7th session Parliament Union of Organization of Islamic Conference (PUIC) in Palembang on Monday.
In his speech, SBY hoped the issue in Strait of Hormuz could be solved by prioritizing dialogue. “I believe every country has its own concern about Strait of Hormuz. The increasing of fuel price will threaten our economic foundation. We must find the innovation to solve this matter peacefully through dialogue and negotiation,” SBY said.
SBY also appreciated the steps taken by Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to increase the cooperation among Muslim countries since 1999. PUIC members are the parliaments from country members of OIC.
