REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CAIRO -- Red Crescent Team (Indonesia) BSMI) held an audience with the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Cairo, Dr (HC) Lutfi Rauf, at the Indonesian Embassy Office in Cairo, Egypt, on Saturday (13/1/2024) local time. In the hearing, the BSMI team was represented by Chairman of DPN BSMI M. Djazuli, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BSMI Prof. Dr. Dr. Basuki Supartono FICS, MARS, SPoT, General Treasurer of BSMI dr Prita Kusumaningsih SPOG, and BSMI Secretary General Muhammad Rudi. The team was welcomed directly by the ambassador and the team in a warm atmosphere.

During the meeting, the ambassador welcomed the support of the Indonesian people to help the Palestinians, especially those who were victims of the war in Gaza. Despite the difficult conditions, the ambassador asked Indonesians to remain optimistic about continuing to help the Palestinians given the crisis they are facing. He also called on Indonesian humanitarian agencies that want to channel aid into Gaza to follow the rules and coordinate with Egyptian authorities.

Basuki explained that BSMI has been experienced in channeling aid directly to Gaza since 2009.Nevertheless, he said, the conditions during the current war are difficult. For this reason, Basuki said, BSMI will abide by the rules and the invitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Cairo as the official representative of the Indonesian Government.

As a senior humanitarian volunteer, Basuki advised that other humanitarian agencies also understand the difficulty of the conditions on the ground. “The conditions are not the same. If only we had enough letters from the Ministry of Ministers, Ministries and coordinated with the Red Crescent here. Now it is not enough because there is Israeli interference, "he explained.

Chairman of BSMI M Djazuli Ambari said that the humanitarian association had already distributed eleven stages of humanitarian aid during the war. Such assistance is in the form of cash, ready meals, medicines, medical equipment and ambulances. According to Djazuli, there is still other assistance prepared for Gazans, in particular scholarship assistance for students and students of BSMI who want to undergo medical education in Indonesia.

Not only that, BSMI will in the near future also prepare stem cell or stem cell training. According to Djazuli, stem cells are beneficial for healing injuries and serious injuries suffered by Gazans.
