REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SABAHBALAU -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has lauded the Lampung Provincial Administration for accelerating the construction work on the Trans-Sumatra toll road.

"I highly appreciate the accelerated construction of the toll road in Lampung. The development must not be stopped," President Jokowi stated while attending the groundbreaking ceremony of the toll road in Sabahbalau, Tanjungbintang sub-district, South Lampung District, Lampung Province, Sumatra Island, Thursday (30/4).

"If there is a trouble maker hampering the toll road construction, report to me," President Jokowi affirmed.

Jokowi noted that the toll road will make inter-provincial transportation faster, more efficient, and cost-effective.

With the toll road, travel time between Lampung and Palembang, South Sumatra Province, will take only three hours rather than 10 hours currently.

President Jokowi laid the first cornerstone of the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Lampung segment of the Trans-Sumatra toll road project in Sabahbalau village.

The Trans-Sumatra toll road project's Bakauheni-Terbanggi Lampung segment is 140.41 kilometers long, covering three districts: South Lampung, Pesawaran, and Central Lampung.

The segment is 104.7 kilometers long in South Lampung, 5.60 kilometers long in Pesawaran, and 30.11 kilometers long in Central Lampung.
