REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLO -- Most cabinet ministers will attend the wedding party of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) daughter in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, Minister/State Secretary Pratikno stated here on Tuesday.
"Some will arrive in the morning, while others in the evening," he said at the president's private home in Sumbet, Banajarsari, Solo.
He revealed that state officials and guests will attend the reception held at the Graha Saba Buana Hall.
"One of the state guests is from South Korea. The state guests will arrive at the reception in the morning along with the head of the Creative Economy Agency, foreign minister, and minister of trade. Other ministers will come in the evening," he said.
Tight schedule
Pratikno said President Jokowi will continue to fulfill his duties as head of state despite the wedding of his daughter.
"He did not take a leave. He will still work. This afternoon, he will visit Sragen (in Central Java) to distribute land certificates to the people," he said.
Even after the reception on Wednesday afternoon, Jokowi is scheduled to receive a state guest, he added.
"Awards will also be presented to national heroes. On Nov 10, after the ceremony marking the commemoration of National Heroes' Day, he will fly to Vietnam to attend a science and technology meeting," he said.
He is also scheduled to attend an ASEAN-level meeting in Manila, the Philippines, Pratikno added.
Jokowi's advice
President Jokowi has advised his only daughter Kahiyang Ayu, who will marry Muhammad Bobby Nasution, to always remain patient in her married life.
"Just be patient, patient, and patient," Jokowi said in his advice that he whispered in his daughter's ears when she kneeled before him during a ceremony to receive blessings at the president's private home in Sumber, Solo, Central Java, here on Tuesday.
President Jokowi said he and First Lady Iriana were moved by the ceremony.
He expressed hope that both the bride and groom would live together forever, and in view of this, he called on the community to pray for their well-being.
"We have taken care of Kahiyang since childhood. We have always been with her everyday, but tomorrow, God willing, after the wedding, she will start her own family. For that, we will pray and seek your blessings, so that Kahiyang Ayu and Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution could start a family together, which is sakinah, mawadah, and waromah," he said while explaining why he was moved.
A cleansing ceremony was held a day before the wedding as part of the Javanese tradition symbolizing the cleansing of the hearts and minds of brides before the wedding.
"Thank God, the ceremony has gone well from the start till the end," he said after the ceremony.
The ceremony will be followed by "midodareni" on Tuesday evening before the wedding ceremony is held on Wednesday morning.
