To help Syrian refugees, ACT sends humanitarian team to Germany

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Feeling compelled to see Syrian refugees and waves of immigrants in some European countries, the global humanitarian agency Fast Action Response (ACT) sent a humanitarian team to Germany.

ACT Global Partnership Network, Rudi Purnomo, explained, almost four million Syrians, since March 2011, spread across many countries, both to the Middle East or Europe.

"The eyes of the world should be more opened," said Rudi to Republika.co.id, Monday (14/9).

Rudi said, from from the data collected, a total of 1,938,999 Syrian refugees were going to Turkey because of unstoppable war their country. He also explained that about 249,728 residents were displaced in Iraq, 629,245 residents were displaced in Jordan, 132,375 residents were displaced in Egypt and 1,172,153 residents were displaced in Lebanon which only has a population of about four million people.

Rudi stated, the data showed that 250 thousand people had been killed, as a result of conflict in Syria. Rudi who had visited Syrian refugees in Turkey, also revealed miserable condition of the refugees in the camps in a number of countries.

Therefore, Rudi said that they do need the help of the world, especially the concern of fellow Muslims. The assistance of the ACT Humanitarian Team will not only stop in Germany, but also in others destination countries of Syrian refugees.

"The moral and material support given by ACT will not only be done once, but will continue until the refugees earn a decent living," he added.
