REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo inaugurated Ahmad Chozin Chumaidy as Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon. Chumaidy was a former member of House of Representatives from United Development Party (PPP) faction, serving from 2004 to 2009.

"Indonesia and Lebanon have similarities. We can make the similarities as energy to create peace in Middle East," Chumaidy said after inauguration in State Palace, Thursday, December 18.

He said that the president asked him to boost relations between Indonesia and Libanon. Chumaidy was proposed as Ambassador to Lebanon since Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) headed Indonesia. However, his inauguration was delayed due to unfavourable political situation.
