REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi met with Minister of Transportation Transport Japan and a number of other relevant parties to discuss the development of existing transport in the Homeland.
“Today and tomorrow (Thursday, April 25 ed.), I will meet with a number of parties, from the Japanese Minister of Transport and several CEOs who are involved in the transportation world,” Budi said in remarks in Jakarta, Wednesday (4/24/2024).
Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi made a working visit to Tokyo, Japan, for two days, from Wednesday to Thursday (24-25/4).
During this visit, the Minister will meet with a number of parties to discuss cooperation in the field of transport between the two countries. A number of issues to be discussed include infrastructure projects in the country, such as Patimban Port, Jakarta MRT and Transit Oriented Development (TOD).
Menhub explained that Indonesia's State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) for the transport sector is very limited. Therefore, it needs a role as well as private parties to support transportation infrastructure development projects in Indonesia.
“God willing, hopefully these meetings can give a good meaning to the progress of the Indonesian nation,” the Minister said.
On the first day, Menhub will hold meetings with Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan Masafumi Mori; Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Japan Tetsuo Saito; Chairman of the Japan Transport and Tourism Research Institute (JTTRI) and Chairman of the International High-Speed Rail Association (IHR) Shukuri Masafumi, and Toyota Tsusho Corporation represented by Kosuke Kunihiro as Division CEO of Green The Infrastructure Division.
At these meetings, Indonesia and Japan will reaffirm the commitment of Indonesia and Japan to improve cooperation in the field of transport, as well as the continuation of existing cooperation.
Meanwhile, on the second day, the Minister will present and deliver remarks at the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Investment Forum 2024 event at KBRI Tokyo, followed by a meeting with Assistant Vice-Minister for International Aviation MLIT Japan Yamakoshi Toshihiro and representatives of Japanese companies in the field of airports.
Menhub's work visit in Tokyo, Japan, will conclude with a meeting with the JICA side with Senior Vice President of JICA Hataeda Mikio, who will discuss some issues related to cooperation in the field of transportation. During this working visit, the Minister was accompanied by Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono and Director General of the Ministry of Railways Risal Wasal.
