Nusa Dua Light Festival attracts tourists during holiday

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Many residents and tourists visited lantern festival or known as Nusa Dua Light Festival (NDLF) during Christmas and new year holiday season in Peninsula Island, Nusa Dua, Bali. 

Public relation of PT Pengembang Pariwisata Indonesia or Indonesia Tourism Development Corporate (ITDC) Nusa Dua, Ni Made Purnama Damayanti said since opened on last December 8, the number of visitors continue to increase, although had decreased due to the impact of Mount Agung eruption.

He said NDLF held twice for this year. Previously, the event held in June to July. This was an effort to promote tourism amid the weakening of Bali's flagship actor, as well as introducing more colourful lanterns with diverse sizes to the public and tourists.

"We held the event twice time as an effort to attract tourists to come to Bali, as well as proving Bali remains safe and worth to visit despite Mount Agung eruption because many tourist attraction is located far from the danger area," said Ni Made on Tuesday (December 26).

Therefore, as the lantern festival which held for 48 days until January 14, 2018 ITDC expected many local and foreign tourists come to Bali. Ni Made believed, NDLF event would attracted many people with the uniqueness and beautiful lanterns.

"There are many lanterns with various sizes ranging from tulip-shaped flowers, cypress trees, animals giant size such as dinosaur, horse, turtle and others," Ni Made explained.

Ni Made, said there are also flying balloon that can bring visitors to see the beauty of Nusa Dua. The flying balloon can fly up to 15 meters of height.
