He said preparations were being made for a proper and smooth conduct of the festival which will become an annual feature. The 1,000 Jangkang dancers from Port Banjarnyuh, Ped Village, Nusa Penida are a part of a sacred dance community of Nusa Penida.

Wayan Sujana said the annual event is expected to increase tourist visits to Nusa Penida and lead to a better earnings for the local people. One of the organizers of the event, I Nyoman Widana, said Nusa Penida Festival will eventually become a tourist attraction, both inside and outside the country.

Nusa Penida Islands consist of a sub-district with an area of 363 square km or two-thirds of Klungkung District?s area.

People in the remote islands have to use a motor boat.

The island has a panoramic view of the underwater world and coral reefs that provide a sustainable breeding place for hundreds of species of ornamental colorful fish.

Foreign tourists enjoy the underwater scenery. They can reach the location by boat from Port Benoa, arriving in the morning and returning in the afternoon.
