No tsunami warning issued following the earthquake.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off coast of Lebak, Banten on Tuesday (January 23). The Metereology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) informed the earthquake's location was in 81 kilometers southwest Lebak regency.

BMKG then revised the data, saying the earthquake at 13.34 Western Indonesia Standard Time was a 6.1 magnitude.

No tsunami warning issued and there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage after the earthquake. However, the tremor was felt as far away as Jakarta, which is 153 kilometers away from Lebak. 

Many office workers in Jakarta buildings scrambled to find exits and tried to get out and find safe ground. Such as workers at MR 21 building on Menteng Raya street, Central Jakarta was evacuated to assembly point.

Some journalists were protecting themselves under the table, while others get out from the room and head straight down the building via the fire escape. After there was no tremor, the security guard instructed the people to evacuate to the gathering point.

Bandung residents also felt the tremor. Khalifatusalam who was at the hall of Gedung Sate said, it lasted for 30 seconds. "I was shocked," she said.
