REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- The National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) noted that 267 residents' homes were damaged after the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that struck the area of Garut Regency, West Java, on Saturday (27/4/27) 2024) night.
“As of today, Monday (29/4/2024), at 04:00pm, the total number of affected houses amounted to 267 units,” said the head of BNPB's Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari in a statement received in Bandung on Monday.
Abdul said that until now, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the district/city is still carrying out the identification of damage levels and other post-mortem impact data.
As for the details based on the extent of the damage, eight houses were heavily damaged, 56 houses were moderately damaged, 191 houses were lightly damaged, 12 houses were affected.
Of these, the most damage occurred in Bandung Regency with 51 houses, Ciamis Regency 46 houses, Garut Regency 42 houses, Sukabumi Regency 17 houses, Tasikmalaya Regency 21 houses, and Tasikmalaya City as many as 24 houses.
“At the affected homes, BNPB is still waiting for information from the BPBD which is still determining the extent of the damage,” he said.
After such efforts are completed, the West Java BPBD together with the district and the city, he continued, will immediately carry out repairs to public facilities, cleaning materials affected by the earthquake, and repair of residents' homes.
In addition to residences or homes, the earthquake that occurred on Saturday night also damaged public facilities, such as places of worship, schools, offices, and health facilities or hospitals.
The BPBD recorded the number of injured as 11 people. Those injured were identified in Garut Regency six people, Bandung three, and Ciamis two.
“Until now, there are no reports of casualties from the 6.2 magnitude earthquake,” he said.
