REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Bio-metallic bone implant technology, made of stainless steel, which was innovated by the Center of Materials Technology of the Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), is ready for community use.
"The certification for production and distribution has been issued by the Ministry of Health to PT Zenith Allmart Precisindo, as the producer of the SS 316L implant," BPPT's head Unggul Priyanto stated at the launching of the SS 316L Bone Implant here on Monday.
He noted that the demand for bone implants continued to increase as the number of traffic accidents increased.
"We strongly encourage this product to be used by orthopedic medical experts in both state and private hospitals. We hope that in the future, there will be synergy among all stakeholders to increase the trust in using domestic implants," he remarked.
Unggul hoped that the 316L stainless steel traumatic implant product will be the beginning of the revival of the medical equipment industry based on local manufacturing and raw materials.
Meanwhile, the Director of Center for Materials Technology, Asep Riswoko, noted that the 316L stainless steel has met the requirements of chemical composition according to ASTM F138 (316L Implant Quality) and mechanical strength ASTM F138 (316L Implant Quality).
"Meanwhile, a medical test showed that the implant has similar quality as that of imported implants; in this case, Synthes from Switzerland is widely used in the medical world," he revealed.
The President Director of PT Zenith Allmart Precisindo, Alan Candrawinata, pointed out that the company is also managing ISO certification and increasing production of SS 316L of 120 units.
