REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Islamic organizations in Indonesia Muhammadiyah has opened emergency schools in the Sumedang, West Java.
Muhammadiyah relief center in Sumedang located in two places. First in Tadjimalela stadium and the second in Sumedang District Military Command Headquarters. Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) held school-based disaster located in Sumedang District Military Command Headquarters.
"Muhammadiyah's emergency schools were founded by volunteers with the aim to restore the children's mental as disaster victims," said Sumedang PDM deputy chairman, Supala, reported by the Muhammadiyah's official website, Tuesday (27/9).
According Supala, 240 child victims are now learning in the emergency schools. He said, these children are helped to recover emotionally assisted by Muhammadiyah's teacher volunteer.
1.027 refugees in Tadjimalela stadium and 386 people in Sumedang Military Command Headquarters are fully managed by Muhammadiyah.
Supala said, Muhammadiyah are distributing educational tools for school.
"However the refugees are still need logistical aid, such as ready-to-eat food and beverages," he said.
From the data recorded, on Monday (26/9), 196 children attended the emergency school. The volunteer are using evoke mental method, motivation, and fun learning.
According to him, emergency school will be opened until the disaster management in Sumedang is complete and refugees or the children could return to their homes.
