President expected to attend archipelago day event in Kalimantan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARMASIN -- The local government and legislators hope that President Joko Widodo will attend the national Archipelago Day celebration in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan on December 13, 2014.

"As expected by the local government of Kotabaru District, we and the local people also hope the President will attend the Archipelago Day commemoration," Muharram, Commission II chairman of South Kalimantan Legislative Assembly (DPRD), said here on Sunday (23/11).

He said that Commission II of the DPRD had observed the venue of the event and was of the view that Kotabaru District was now ready to host the Archipelago Day commemoration.

According to Muharram, Kotabaru District Head Irhami informed him that he had yet received confirmation on whether the President will attend the event.

"Confirmation on whether Joko Widodo will attend the commemoration will likely be made after the meeting of the national committee of the Archipelago Day event on November 27, 2014," he said.

He said that the commemoration would be attended representatives from all provinces and a number of ministers such as the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister," the local legislator said.
