REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Seribu Islands Junaedi said Karya Island and Tidung Island have the potential to be developed into tourist areas that can boost the regional economy.

“Tidung Island and Karya Island have great potential to be developed so as to increase the visits of tourists who come and can improve the economy of local residents,” said Kepulauan Seribu Junaedi Regent in Jakarta, Monday (29/4/2024).

He said tourism development of these islands can be done by involving the private sector interested in investing in Pulau Tidung and Pulau Karya.

“The Thousand Islands is a tourist destination so it is necessary to innovate for the development of the tourism sector in the future,” he said.

Regent of the Thousand Islands, Junaedi conducts surveillance activities to a number of islands in its territory including Pulau Tidung which is part of the South Thousand Islands and Karya Island which is part of the North Thousand Islands. This activity is in order to utilize the assets owned by the Government of DKI Jakarta for the development of the tourism sector.

Previously, the Kepulauan Seribu Regency Government focused on working in the field of tourism, including preparing a number of important measures in the sector to increase regional native income (PAD).

The party has prepared eleven prominent tourist destinations on the populated island and submitted to the province of DKI Jakarta to prepare its supporters in the form of regional regulations (perda). Junaedi explained that the strategy to increase PAD was carried out in conjunction with the change of DKI Jakarta into a Special Region of Jakarta ( DKJ).

“Jakarta is leading to a global city that some indicators exist in the tourism sector and the designation of the National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN),” he said.
