Pertamina responds Muhammadiyah’s edict about fuel price

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Pertamina stated that the government still has a role in setting the price of fuel oil (BBM). It said, not all types of fuel price were floated to the market mechanism.

This statement was made by VP Corporate Communications of Pertamina, Wianda Pusponegoro, responded to edict of Muhammadiyah on fuel pricing released to the market. In the edict, Muhammadiyah assessed the policy of setting fuel oil against the Law of Mineral and Gas number 22 of 2001.

Wianda said there should be an understanding in the community that not all types of fuel price released into the market. "On the Presidential Decree Number 191 of 2014 clearly for the common types of fuel, such as Pertamax series price is determined by the enterprise. Because it is not a special assignment fuel types such as Non Jamali (Java, Madura and Bali) premium and diesel fuel subsidies," said Wianda, on Monday, May 25.

So, Wianda continued, in principle the subsidized fuel such as kerosene, premium areas of deployment outside Java, Bali and Madura, the government was still take the role. In other words, it was not fully floated in the market.

On the other hand, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources was looking for a formula pricing on per 3 months or 6 months. "It is true that the fuel subsidy domain still in full of government setting to outside Java, Madura and Bali," said Wianda.

The edict released by Muhammadiyah displayed in Harian Republika edition on Monday, May 25. General Chairman of Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin said the edict was a form of Muhammadiyah’s concern for the fate of the Indonesia nation.

"This edict delivered as Muhammadiyah national responsibility and concern for all those who are committed to the rule of law and the constitution, as well as the establishment of the sovereignty of the state," said Din in the edicts.
