Ministry of Transportation issues yellow status to Indonesian flight

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG -- Ministry of Transportation issued yellow status for the entire flight in Indonesia related to recent terror threat. Director of Flight Safety of Director General of the Air Flight, Nasir Usman, said the yellow status was applied since Tuesday (24/11) through an official letter issued by Directorate General of Civil Aviation and submitted to all airport operators in Indonesia.

In the letter, the entire airports was asked to increase security in checking all passengers and luggage. The airports authority was also asked to be vigilance against any movements or smugglers in the airport area.

"The whole airport security was enhanced and personal data of passengers and luggage need also to be re-checked," he said, in Tangerang.

He added, if later existence of terrorism is discovered in one of the airports, then the yellow status will be changed to red. However, the yellow status would be revoked if all flights are considered safe.

"We continue to coordinate with the intelligence, police, and military. We just want to make all flight safe," he said.
