REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ISTANBUL -- Baykar and Indonesian aerospace company PT Republik Aero Dirgantara (Republikorp) signed a framework agreement for the export of Bayraktar Kizilelma unmanned combat aircraft. The signing procession took place on the sidelines of the SAHA 2026 International Defense, Aerospace and Space Industry Fair, Istanbul, Wednesday (6/5/2026).
Baykar's CEO, Haluk Bayraktar, said the deal was an important milestone for the drone-making company. It was due to be the first export contract for Bayraktar Kizilelma.
Haluk explained that Bayraktar TB2 is currently the most exported drone system in its class. Bayraktar Kizilelma, one of the world's first unmanned combat aircraft, has made its maiden flight in 2022.
“Since then, test flight activities have been very intensive. Last year, the mass production process has been completed and our target this year is to start presenting Bayraktar Kizilelma for use in our country,” Haluk was quoted as saying by Anadolu.
According to him, the agreement includes the target of sending one squadron consisting of 12 Kizilelma units from 2028. In addition, the agreement also includes the option of an additional four squadrons or a total of 48 aircraft for future procurement.
Haluk added that the collaboration encompasses not only system procurement but also the construction of a local production facility and maintenance center in Indonesia to support aircraft operations and maintenance.
Haluk also recalled that Baykar and Indonesia had previously signed contracts for the Bayraktar Akinci and Bayraktar TB2 in 2025. "This marks the third product in our collaboration with Indonesia," he said.
Meanwhile, Republikorp CEO Norman Joesoef expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the agreement. He emphasized the desire of both parties to continue their collaboration.
