REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDA ACEH -- The National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) reported the death toll from disasters, such as flash floods and landslides, in three provinces on Sumatra island reached 914 people.

“As of today, December 6, 2025 (afternoon), the total number of dead reached 914 people, an increase of 47 from yesterday's position of 867,” said Abdul Muhari, Head of BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center in Banda Aceh, Saturday (6/12/2025).

He said it during a press conference related to an update on the handling of hydrometeorological disasters in Sumatra at the Komdigi Media Center at the Aceh Governor's Office in Banda Aceh.

He detailed the number of deaths, highest in Aceh province with 359 inhabitants, North Sumatra (Sumut) 329, and West Sumatra (Sumbar) 226.

“BNPB continues to optimize and accelerate search and rescue operations, so that the casualty figures can be minimized as little as possible,” he said.

He also said related to reports of missing victims, out of a total of the three provinces still listed on the SAR team's current search list of 389 people.

This figure, he said, was constantly moving because some victims previously reported missing had already been found or reported themselves in survivalist condition.

“The missing toll data that yesterday amounted to 521 lives, as of today based on Pusdalops BPBD records in three provinces to 389 inhabitants,” he said.

He expects search and rescue operations to continue to be optimized.

“We expect this number to continue to fall, so that search and relief operations can maximize to find missing victims,” Abdul Muhari said.
