REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI — The General Chairman of the Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah, Prof Haedar Nasir, welcomed the establishment of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah during the era of President Prabowo Subianto. According to him, the existence of this new ministry should be a momentum to strengthen the services of Hajj worship in a more professional, reliable, and synergistic manner with the whole power of Muslims.

“The Ministry of Hajj must be in synergy with the whole power of the Ummah because Hajj is the basis of the Ummah. So it is not wrong that this Hajj affair is related to Muslims because it is Hajj is a matter of the Ummah,” Haedar said at Unisma Campus Bekasi on Tuesday (16/9/2025).

He also hopes that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in the future can be even more professional in the governance of Hajj. According to him, the foundation of the Hajj service has so far been well laid, but in the future it needs to be improved so that it is more transparent, safe and reliable.

“The second has to be more professional, it has to be more reliable. I'm sure this foundation has been laid all along, it remains to be seen how it can be even better in the future,” he said.

In addition, Haedar reminded the Hajj Ministry to manage Hajj worship in global relations. According to him, Hajj is an international worship that brings together Muslims from different nations.

“And the latter must certainly be able to conduct Hajj in global relations because this Hajj is related to people from other nations so it is not just Indonesia,” Haedar said.

He hopes that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah can carry out its mandate with full responsibility, make Hajj services more efficient, and maintain partnerships with Islamic ormas, including Muhammadiyah, for the welfare of the people.
