REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir expressed his highest appreciation to Commission X and Commission XIII of DPR RI for their quick steps and full support to approve the naturalization process of five diaspora footballers. The approval was issued in a Joint Working Meeting held at DPR/MPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (26/8/2025) morning.
Two of the five footballers were Miliano Jonathans (21 years/winger) and Mauro Nils Zijlstra (20/central attacker). The other three are female footballers, Isabel Corian Kopp (23/right defender), Pauline Jeannette van de Pol (22/left back), and Isabelle Nottet (22/winger).
With this approval, the validity process of the five players will be continued to the plenary meeting of the Parliament, before being submitted to the Secretariat of State to obtain a Presidential Decree (Keppres) as a condition for taking the oath of office as an Indonesian Citizen (WNI).
“The approval of the honourable representatives of the people is not only about the technicalities of football, but also about the great dream of the nation. I thank Commission X and XIII for their commitment and support to the progress of Indonesian football,” Erick Thohir said after the meeting.
Erick insists the presence of Miliano and Mauro is crucial to strengthen the senior Indonesian and U-23 national teams in the face of a number of important events until the end of the year.
Meanwhile, the three diaspora srikandi will be an important part of the Indonesian women's national team's long-term project that targets FIFA's top 50 ranking, Asia's top 10, qualifying for every round of the AFC Women's Asian Cup finals, and breaking through to the FIFA Women's World Cup 2035.
Erick also expressed his appreciation to the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto for his support towards the acceleration of Indonesian football achievements. He also thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), the Ministry of Law, as well as the leadership of the Parliament for continuing to provide support to the transformation of national football.
“Football is the unifying tool of nations. The support from President Prabowo and the ministries/agencies shows us all one vision to make Indonesian football stronger competing to bring pride to the White Red,” Erick said.
