REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia and Italy have submitted concrete recommendations on security issues related to the Two-State Solution, developed through consultations with all UN member states.
The two countries were entrusted to lead the Working Group on Security Issues as part of the preparation process for the conference held at the UN Headquarters in New York from July 28 to 30, according to a written statement from Indonesia's Foreign Affairs Ministry on Tuesday, July 29.
Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir, who led the Indonesian delegation to the conference, stated that the working group aimed to identify security guarantees, as well as define the scope and tasks of a stabilization mission under UN command.
He said these two aspects are essential pillars for achieving lasting peace in the Palestine-Israel conflict.
According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Indonesia and Italy submitted four concrete recommendations during the Conference Preparatory Meeting on Monday morning, July 28, New York time.
The first recommendation is the establishment of credible and equal security guarantees for both states through the cessation of violence and the affirmation of both parties' equal right to security.
