REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in supporting the acceleration of the three million homes program proposed by President Prabowo Subianto. Erick stated the Ministry of SOEs is ready to be the main support system to ensure the program runs successfully.
“Mr. President's vision is clear, how the three million homes program should be successful. Now his mission remains with Pak Ara (Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas) and I in the Ministry of BUMN as a supporting system,” Erick said after a coordination meeting with Minister of Housing and Residential Areas Maruarar Sirait at the Ministry of BUMN office, Jakarta, Monday (10/2/2025).
Erick insists synergies across ministries and collaboration with the private sector are key to accelerating the programme. Erick said he was greatly helped by Ara's quick move to bring in private sector entrepreneurs to help state-owned enterprises succeed in building three million homes.
“I have said many times that when the cooperation of the relevant ministries, especially with Mr. Ara's rapid move to maneuver and provide solutions, we as a supporting system of the government find it easier. Especially if the ecosystem can be connected,” says Erick.
Erick is optimistic that the program of three million homes can be realized with the cooperation of state-owned enterprises, private companies, and there will also be support from Bank Indonesia. Erick said this collaboration is a concrete step by the government in building an affordable funding ecosystem to further facilitate the realization of the program.
“Earlier, the developers also worked openly with Himbara and Perumnas, especially later encouraged by Bank Indonesia to build an ecosystem that could facilitate the accessibility of cheap funding,” Erick continued.
During the meeting, Erick said the Ministry of SOEs and SOEs is ready to support the development of 792 hectares for 123,000 homes in five locations. Erick has also appointed Perumnas as the Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure the accelerated process goes as planned.
“It will focus on 792 hectares of land that are ready for development. Approximately 123,000 homes could be accelerated. There are already five clean and clear locations, which we will encourage and review in the near future,” added Erick.
Erick stressed the importance of transparency of cooperation between the private sector and state-owned enterprises. Erick wants to want to ensure this cooperation there is a clear legal umbrella and runs transparently.
“I am confident that with solid cooperation, both with large private, medium, small, and state-owned enterprises, the target of three million homes will be realized for the well-being of Indonesian people,” Erick said.
