REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir along with Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, President Director of PT KAI (Persero) Didiek Hartantyo, and Special Envoy of the President for the Education of Young Generations and Art Workers Raffi Ahmad, conducted a trial of direct train travel without transit from Gambir Station, Jakarta, to Semarang Tawang Station. The trip was made on Monday (9/12/2024) evening to evaluate the latest breakthroughs in the land transport sector.
On the occasion, Erick expressed his appreciation for the synergies that have been established between the Ministry of state-owned enterprises, the Ministry of Transportation, and PT KAI.
“Thank you for the hard work of Mr. Menhub who continues to give directions to us in the Ministry of state-owned enterprises, state-owned enterprises, and also all elements of land, sea, and air transportation. Thank God yesterday we continued to work hard together, so that me and Mr. Menhub checked ourselves, so that the price of air tickets can drop now by almost 10 percent,” Erick said during a press conference before testing a direct train without transit from Gambir Station, Jakarta to Semarang Tawang Station, on Monday (9/12/2024).
According to Erick, the launch of this direct train service is one of the efforts to provide a more convenient and efficient transportation solution for the community.
“Today we are trying to provide a service solution to the community that there is a breakthrough train whose route can go directly to Semarang,” Erick said.
Erick also called this innovation has caught the attention of the public, as evidenced by the high demand for direct train tickets.
“We also hope that Mr. Raffi and the influencers who participated in the train journey can promote, because this turns out to attract the animo of the public that tickets for the direct train have already been sold out,” Erick said.
Erick judged the direct train departure at 23:00pm to be a strategic choice as it provides flexibility for people who wish to travel. In addition, Erick highlighted the improvement of facilities at the station, such as shower rooms, locker rooms, to the wide variety of food options and pharmacies that are now available at Gambir Station.
“Moreover, the station facilities are also constantly being improved. There is a shower, there is a locker room, earlier I also saw, well, this food facility has increased a lot, there is a pharmacy and others, amazing. So hopefully we can give the best for the community,” Erick said.
Erick said the trial was also a real step in meeting President Prabowo Subianto's directive to continue improving the quality of public services in the transport sector.
“Hopefully this will also be an improvement in service as directed by Mr. President Prabowo that ensures we continue to improve service to the community,” Erick said.
