REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The younger generation is becoming an important pillar in the development of a more inclusive sharia economy going forward. Therefore, Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2024, Hijrah Wednesday and Bank Indonesia presented the Young Muslim Leader Forum which carries the theme of Fostering Sustainable Economic Growth Through Youth Entrepreneurship to activate the independence of the young generation in the sharia economy sector.
Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti said the younger generation is the main motor in a sustainable sharia economy. “They need to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to compete in the global era so this Forum is a very important step towards achieving that,” he said.
Assistant Governor of Bank Indonesia, Solikhin M. Juhro also emphasized Bank Indonesia's support for youth who want to develop in the sharia sector. Sharia economics has a strong foundation to support sustainability.
“Through programs like this, we hope to strengthen the role of youth in an inclusive and innovative sharia economy, because the future of Indonesia's economy depends on them,” he said.
Chairman of Wednesday Hijrah, Phirman Rezha highlighted the importance of community involvement in developing the sharia economic ecosystem. Through strong community support, an environment conducive to youth innovation and growth can be created.
“Wednesday Hijrah is committed to helping the younger generation of Muslims to develop professionally in a sharia-based economic environment,” he said.
The Executive Director of Wednesday Hijrah, Rio Chaniado Anggara hopes that young Muslims can become pioneers in the sharia economy. Considering sharia economics is not just a system, but also a lifestyle that can bring well-being to all.
“Through this event, we want to equip the younger generation with strong insights and networks to continue contributing and growing in the sector,” he said
The important role of the younger generation can be started through the sharia entrepreneurship sector. Evermos' Co-Founder & CEO, Ghufron Mustaqim encourages participants to dare to start sharia based businesses.
“Success starts with the intention and courage to start. Evermos stands with the vision of empowering every individual to become an entrepreneur. I hope that through this forum, more young Muslims are inspired to build sharia endeavors that can have a positive impact,” he said
Yosamartha, Director of Bank Indonesia's Payment System Policy Department, also conveyed the importance of innovation in supporting the sharia economy. .Group CEO of Hijra Bank, Dima Djani also shared his views on opportunities in the sharia fintech sector. Financial technology provides a great opportunity to expand the reach of the sharia economy.
“I hope young people can harness this momentum to bring new innovations that can help move the national economy,” he said.
The younger generation needs to consistently advocate for Sharia economic and financial agendas in Indonesia. This is because they are the most relevant in creating creative ideas to iterate with one another.
The role is indispensable because the younger generation who understands Sharia economics can play an active role in building the Sharia economic and financial ecosystem. It is also as part an effort to support the government's target of achieving 8 percent economic growth.
