REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The inauguration of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029 was greeted with great euphoria by the public. Not only a historic moment for the nation, the People's Feast event held along Jalan Sudirman to Istana Merdeka on Sunday, October 20, 2024, also presented various entertainment stages enlivened by the artists of the capital.
Nusron Wahid, Secretary of Prabowo-Gibran's National Campaign Team (TKN), said that the event, titled “People's Stage”, aims to be a joint party to celebrate the leadership transition. “We invite all Indonesians, regardless of whoever the president chooses in the election, to celebrate the inauguration of President Prabowo together,” he said. The stages scattered along the route are expected to bring the spirit of unity and diversity of Indonesian culture.
Entertainment stages scattered at several points on Sudirman Street add to the merriment of this folk feast. At the Sumatra Stage, which is in front of the BRI Tower Building, Band Kotak and Melody Band performed to burn the spirits of the audience. Meanwhile, the Kalimantan Stage located at the fork of Jalan Karet Pasar Baru Timur was enlivened by David Bayu 'Naif' and Iis Dahlia.
No less festive, at the Upper Hamlet Stage in front of BNI Tower Building, Ayu Dewi was present as the host of the event that guided Happy Asmara and Oom Leo Berkaraoke featuring Bisma Kharisma. At Bundaran Hotel Indonesia, Nella Kharisma and Ayu Ting-Ting performed accompanied by the Chaplin Band, entertaining the people who flocked to watch the show.
Via Vallen also enlivened the Thamrin Jaya Stage, while the Kuda Sculpture Roundabout Stage was filled with performances by RAN, Mendadak Koplo, and Kanda Brothers. The highlight of the entertainment was at the IKN Stage, located in Taman Pandang Istana, where the legendary band Dewa 19 performed to entertain the crowds that crowded the location.
Nusron Wahid added that after the inauguration in the Parliament Building, Prabowo and Gibran are scheduled to greet people by visiting each stage. “Mas Gibran and Mr. Prabowo will be sent home from Parliament and will take the stage one by one, greeting one by one,” Nusron explained.
The presence of top artists in this “People's Party” reinforces the atmosphere of public enthusiasm for welcoming the new leader. The director of the Indonesian Political House, Fernando Emas, assessed that this public euphoria reflected great expectations for the Prabowo-Gibran government. “The public is excited to welcome this inauguration because it has hope that the new government can continue the development that President Jokowi has pioneered,” he said.
On the other hand, Fernando also reminds that security and order must be maintained during this euphoria. “The security forces must remain in anticipation that neither side tries to take advantage of the euphoria of the public to create a riot,” he concluded.
This event is not only a real form of mutual celebration, but also as a symbol of the spirit of togetherness and support for the new leadership. All sides hope that, under Prabowo-Gibran's leadership, Indonesia can continue to move forward with national stability maintained.
