REPUBLICA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Grand Administrator of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) instructed to recite the Qunu Nazilah prayer over the tragedy of the year-long Israeli attacks on Palestinians and the escalating situation in the Middle East.
The instruction was published in Circular No. 2523/PB.01/A.I.01.47/99/10/2024 during the Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah Daily Meeting on the 8th Floor of PBNU Building in Central Jakarta.
“Looking at the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East after a year of Israeli incursions into Palestine, we hereby state that the PBNU in its Daily Meeting of Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah on 3rd Rabiul Late 1446 H/6 October 2024 A.D., among other things, decided: one, instruct all citizens of Nahdlatul Ulama to encourage the re-implementation of Qunu Nazilah,” reads a PBNU circular that Received in Jakarta on Thursday.
The circular in the form of an invitation was signed by Rais Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar, Katim Aam KH Ahmad Said Asrori, PBNU General Chairman KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, and PBNU Secretary General H. Saifullah Yusuf.
The circular also contains guidelines that need to be carried out by NU residents and the public in general, such as the Qunu Nazilah prayer to be read at the last rakaat in every fardhu prayer, including Friday prayers.
Later, the Qunu Nazilah prayer was not preceded by the Qunu Prayer, which is generally read during the Shubuh Prayer. Especially when read in the Shubuh prayer, the Qunu Nazilah prayer is read after the Qunu Subuh prayer.
In addition, PBNU also wishes that the Government of the Republic of Indonesia will always be given the power to continuously contribute to the pursuit of a just settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in accordance with existing laws and international agreements.
Not only that, PBNU also invited all NU citizens to raise humanitarian funds to help the Palestinians, including setting aside some of Friday's Infaq funds to then be channeled through Amil Zakat, Infaq and Shaqadah Nahdlatul Ulama (NU Care-lazisnu) Institutions.
