Republika Holds FGD One Year Anniversary of Israeli Attack on Gaza

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Republika held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the one-year anniversary of Israel's attack on Gaza at Republika Building, South Jakarta, Friday (27/9/2024). The FGD was organized to make various efforts that could be made in order to help the Palestinian struggle for independence and free themselves from Israeli colonization.

The FGD held by the Republic was attended by various humanitarian agencies and parties committed to supporting Palestinian independence.

The director of the Republic, Nur Hasan Murtiadji, said that one year ago, Israel launched a massive attack on Gaza, resulting in severe damage and suffering for civilians. One year after this tragic event, it is important to remember and reflect again on the impact experienced by the Palestinian people.

“Through this FGD activity, Republika wants to voice solidarity, educate people, and initiate a movement to help the Palestinian people,” Nur Hasan said during the FGD marking the one-year anniversary of Israel's attack on Gaza at the Republika Building on Friday (27/9/2024).

Nur Hasan conveyed the goal of FGD activities One Year Anniversary of the Israeli offensive on Gaza. Among these are raising public awareness of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, conveying a message of solidarity towards the Palestinian people, and facilitating discussions on relief and support efforts for Gaza.

Other goals include encouraging active community participation in the humanitarian movement for Palestine, building collaboration between humanitarian agencies to respond to the situation in Gaza, and drawing up recommendations that can be conveyed to governments and the international community.

For the record, Israel has not stopped its genocide in Gaza ahead of a year of such brutal action. The devastation in the besieged region was all the more unimaginable.

A total of 41,500 people were martyred as a result of the Israeli attack, mostly children and women. A total of 96,000 people have been injured as a result of the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

As many as 495,000 Gazans face hunger, 95 percent of Gazans are food prone. As many as 625,000 Gazan children have dropped out of school since Israel's aggression. Tens of thousands of children cannot take exams.

As many as 70 percent of the buildings in Gaza were destroyed, it took 15 years to rebuild Gaza. As many as 350 school units in Gaza have been destroyed by Israeli strikes, as many as 12 universities have also been destroyed.

As many as 160 journalists were martyred in Gaza as a result of Israeli attacks. As many as 90 percent of Gaza's 2.4 million residents have been displaced and displaced. As many as 300 medical personnel have been killed by Israel, only nine of the 36 hospitals are functioning.

Among the FGD participants who attended were representatives of Forum Zakat (FOZ), National Committee for the Palestinian People (KNRP), Dhuafa Wallet, Baznas, Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C), Indonesian Muslim Consumer Foundation (YKMI), Indonesian Red Crescent (BSMI), Baitul Maal Hidayatullah (BMH) and others.
