REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PENAJAM -- Ahead of the commemoration ceremony of the 79th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 2024 in Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) as a Subholding of Pertami Gas China made sure the gas had flowed and was ready for use. PGN provides natural gas at IKN using a combination of services with a beyond pipeline mode in the form of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
At this stage, CNG is transported using a cylinder tube mode or called a Gaslink Cylinder. As for the Gaslink Cylinder provided at IKN, there are two types, namely Gaslink Cylinder with a capacity of 24 cubic meters per tube and 4 cubic meters per tube/mini Gaslink Cylinder.
On Sunday (11/8/2024), the Ministerial Site House (RTJM) 105, installed Gaslink Cylinder and has gradually released the first gas. The Gaslink Cylinder installed at RTJM is a number of 12 units spread over eight lots. In addition to RTJM, gaslink cylinders have also been installed in the state palace, garuda palace, presidential secretariat office, ASN 4 Tower B and C, ASN 1 Tower B and Tower C, rusun BIN, rusun POLRI, paspampes tower, veranda of the archipelago and Hotel Nusantara (privately owned commercial customers). The total number of installed Gaslink Cylinder reaches 34 units and is ready to serve the natural gas needs of IKN.
In order to support the distribution of natural gas in IKN, PGN also built a 61.1 km long natural gas pipeline in the Central Core Area of Government (KIPP) Sub WP 1A. Currently, gas supplies are brought from Balikpapan, East Kalimantan through intermodal natural gas transportation.
Provision of IKN natural gas forms PGN's commitment as the executor of Pertamina's tasks of the government in providing natural gas infrastructure. This is also a form of PGN's support for the government's plan to build a green industrial area in IKN. With lower emission levels than other fossil energies, natural gas could be the top choice as clean energy.
“PGN is committed to fulfilling the mandate of the government in providing clean energy in IKN. PGN is currently working optimally so that natural gas services can operate safely in order to support the readiness of the infrastructure for the anniversary commemoration at IKN,” said PGN Company Secretary, Fajriyah Usman, in an official statement on Tuesday (13/8/2024).
Fajriyah continued, PGN continues to strive for the development of natural gas infrastructure in IKN to proceed according to the target. PGN is also preparing a gas network to meet the needs of household customers in IKN which is projected to be 9,996 Home Connections (SR).
PGN collaborates with the IKN Authority and other stakeholders so that the supply of natural gas in IKN can provide positive benefits and is in line with Indonesia's goal of Net Zero Emissions by 2060. No less important, gas consumers will get practical, reliable, safe and environmentally friendly energy services.
“In the energy transition period, natural gas is believed to be a cleaner and more environmentally friendly energy, because CO2 emissions resulting from the use of natural gas are lower compared to other fossil energies. In addition, natural gas comes from within the country, thus saving the country's foreign exchange for energy import needs,” Fajriyah said.
