REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Assembly (MUI) for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation Prof. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim reminded and cited the results of the Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) survey on the number of supporters of Israeli Zionists in Indonesia.

“I remind and quote the results of the survey, Zionist supporters, I don't mention Jews, but Zionist supporters in Indonesia are two percent,” Prof. Sudarnoto told Republika on Wednesday.

Prof. Sudarnoto revealed that the number is indeed only two percent, but just count how many people in Indonesia are. MUI also knows Jewish groups and Jewish communities, for example in Manado.

“One of the people who joined the group (of five NU activists) to Israel yesterday was Rabbi Yaakov whom I questioned when he opened the Holocaust Museum,” he said.

Prof. Sudarnoto confirmed again that there are two percent of defenders or supporters of Zionism in Indonesia. In fact, he once argued with pro-Zionist activists and defenders of Israel.

For Prof. Sudarnoto, it was clear the existence of Zionist support agents in Indonesia. The agents could be of any religion: Islamic, Christian, Jewish or agnostic.

“There are some Muslims who are also participating in this Israeli campaign, and spreading misinformation about Palestine,” he said.

Earlier, the MUI Chair for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation revealed how Israeli agents work in Indonesia. They are doing various ways to carry out their mission in Indonesia.

Prof. Sudarnoto said that Israeli agents operate all over the world including in Indonesia. The role of those agents is very important.

“Whether it is an official agency or an agency that is cultural in nature but whose job it is to promote about Israel to every country,” Prof. Sudarnoto told Republika.

According to an Aljazeera on Wednesday, at least 48 people were killed by three Israeli airstrikes in less than an hour on Tuesday (16/7/2024). This was conveyed by Gaza's civil defense agency, Palestine.

The Israeli attack killed at least 25 people at a UN-run school in the Nuseirat area of central Gaza. 18 people died in southern Khan Younis, and five died in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, according to reports.

The United Nations said Israel's attack took place near its joint operations center in Deir el-Balah, where it was coordinating the humanitarian aid response in Gaza.

In nine months of war, 70 percent of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) schools in Gaza have now been bombed and 539 people sheltering inside the building have died.

At least 38,713 people have died and 89,166 wounded in Israel's war in Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from the Hamas-led offensive on October 7 is estimated at 1,139 people, and dozens are still being held captive in Gaza.
