Indonesia Successfully Delivers 800 Tons of Aid to 10 Points in Gaza Strip

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Task Force Garuda Merah Putih II managed to deliver logistics assistance by airdrop method from aircraft to Gaza Strip, Palestine, Sunday (17/8/2025). The distribution of aid was precisely carried out on the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Republic of Indonesia.

“This success is a historic record, as well as a special gift coinciding with the 80th Anniversary (Anniversary) of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Chief of the Defense Information Bureau (Infohan), Chief of the Ministry of Defence Information (Infohan), Brigjen Frega Wenas in Jakarta, Monday (18/8/2025).

Frega explained that the delivery of logistical assistance was the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian National Army (TNI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu), and the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas).

In this mission, two Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft were deployed to carry 800 tons of logistics consisting of 1,000 packages of food, medicine, clothing, and people's air umbrellas (PUOs).

According to Frega, the Indonesian Air Force's newest transport aircraft departed from King Abdullah II Military Base, Amman, Jordan, at around 10:37 a.m. local time (2:37 p.m. Western Indonesian Time), to carry out an airdrop mission in the Gaza Strip. "After carrying out the aid airdrop mission, the two aircraft landed safely at their forward base at 12:25 p.m. Jordanian time," Frega said.

A total of 800 tons of aid were dropped at 10 locations in Gaza that were confirmed safe. Commander of the Garuda Merah Putih II Task Force, Colonel Puguh Yulianto, stated that the mission went smoothly.

He explained that the mission was carried out on the direct orders of President Prabowo Subianto as a concrete manifestation of Indonesia's commitment to upholding international humanitarian solidarity. "The success of this humanitarian mission on this moment of independence is not only a source of national pride, but also tangible evidence of Indonesia's contribution to world peace," Puguh explained.
