The Khofifah-Emil couple received official support from Golkar.

“Yes, we remain in communication,” said Khofifah, Governor of Jatim for 2019-2024, met in Kebayoran Baru area, Jakarta, Friday (17/5/2024) evening.

Emil Dardak as Deputy Governor of Jatim for 2019-2024 also made similar remarks when he arrived at the Golkar Party's official endorsement event for Khofifah-Emil in the Jatim elections. “PDIP is also actually running. Mother (Khofifah) also walked. God willing the atmosphere is very fluid, familiar,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Golkar Party General Chairman Airlangga Hartarto is still reluctant to comment on the chances of PDIP, the non-coalition Indonesia Forward Party (KIM), to support Khofifah-Emil in the 2024 Jatim elections. “We have spoken to KIM, beyond that we will not comment. That should be discussed in the other office,” he said.

Golkar Party is a member of KIM to represent the President-Vice President-elect of RI Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2024 presidential election. Other parties that belong to KIM include the Gerindra Party, the Democratic Party, and the National Mandate Party (PAN).

Meanwhile, the PDIP in the 2024 presidential election fielded the pair of Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md along with the United Development Party (PPP), the Perindo Party, and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura). On the other hand, Airlangga had time to speculate that Khofifah-Emil would advance in the Jakarta election.

“We thought Khofifah and Emil wanted to go to Jakarta, so I called tonight. It turned out to remain in East Java,” he said.
