REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Thousands of Indonesians perform Eid 1445 H prayers at the football field of the Embassy of Indonesia in Bangkok, Thailand.

According to a written statement from KBRI Bangkok received in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/4/2024), the performance of Eid prayers coincided with the celebration of the Thai new year Songkran, which is usually commemorated with water celebrations.

The event began with the performance of Eid prayer followed by a sermon on the theme “The Meaning of Eid for Everyday Life and Community Life” by Khatib Ustad Novi Maulana.

After the id prayer was completed, the event continued with a meeting with Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand Rachmat Budiman and Mrs. Tanty Rachmat Budiman at the Indonesian Ambassador Guesthouse Bangkok. The silaturahmi activities are not only followed by Indonesian Muslims, but also by non-Muslim and friends in Thailand.

In the event of the silaturahmi, a banquet of typical Eid food such as rendang, balado fish, fried chicken, lontong vegetables, and meatballs are also provided. In addition, desserts are also provided, such as mixed ice cream and ice cream.

KBRI Bangkok said that the moment of contact was the right moment to restrengthen the sense of brotherhood and unity of fellow Indonesians in Thailand. KBRI Bangkok also said that the KBRI Bangkok Ramadan committee Mesjir As-Syafir has distributed zakat fitrah to elderly and poor Indonesians in several provinces in Thailand.

In addition, KBRI Bangkok has also channeled the funds to several mosques in Thailand. Meanwhile, KBRI also said that the distribution of charity zakat funds and alms was channeled to orphan foundations in a province in Thailand and orphans in Indonesia.

The funds will also be channeled through the Dhuafa Wallet Foundation in Indonesia to support the development of dawah, education and health programs and clean water needs in the eastern region of Indonesia.
